Dusit Davao's Grand Tasting Defines Exquisite Dining Experience


Proving to be the center of memorable and standout culinary events in the region, Dusit Davao adds up another milestone with its recently concluded Grand Tasting – the kick-off event for the Davao Food and Wine Festival.

Dusit Hotels and Resort in Davao has continued to elevate the region’s best with its numerous collaborations of momentous events. Coming from the success of Chefs on Tour last April, its culinary showcase continues with the hosting of the Grand Tasting for the Davao Food and Wine Festival. 

With nine culinary masters from Singapore, Manila, Cebu, and Davao, a 12-course menu delighted the guests during the Grand Tasting. The wide and spacious podium floor of Dusit Davao were divided into stations, making the gastronomic journey an experience to remember. 

At the Lumpini Jr. Ballroom were Dusit Davao’s very own Executive Chef Piya Suthasiri featuring a Thai-Style Cured Local Fish Kinilaw with Oyster. 
Renowned cheesemaker Olive Puentespina of Malagos Farmhouse with a generous spread of cheese varieties. By the pool deck is La Cabrera which boasts an Argentinian parillada of chorizo, entrana, ribeye, short ribs and sirloin. Beverage partners Davao Wines and Lagarde have bar stations to pair the dishes with.

Inside the award-winning restaurant Madayaw CafĂ© were: Chef Tippi Tambunting with two dishes – Heirloom Tomatoes and Capsicum Ensalada, Feta and Brioche Crisp with Microbasil, and Beef Rendang and Sunmade Brown Rice; Chef Marco Anzani with Beetroot Homemade Ravioli stuffed with Ossobucco stewed on Porcini Mushrooms Cream Sauce; Chef David Thien’s Rustic Chicken Pie with Malagos Pecorino Pepato; Chef Lisa Revilla showcasing her Crispy Sushi  with Crispy Rice, Marinated Tuna, and Smoke Sriracha Aioli;Chef Jorge Mendez with two dishes – Roasted Lamb with Pamapa Itum Curry and Nori Chip and Cured Gensan Tuna with Pampa Itum Tossa and Palapa Bushi; and for dessert, the famous Dabawenyo Joel Osvaldo with Chocolate-coated Tinagtag and Malagos Blush Blue, Fig, Walnut Cheesecake with Honey Drizzle. At the all-day dining restaurant is Luisita Rum to serve cocktails. 
 TLDC CEO Tomas Lorenzo welcomed guests to this one-of-a-kind experience, saying that holding this event in a more interactive space allows guests to feel the vibe of culinary celebration better. GM Christoph Kuch also expressed his thanks to the Department of Tourism and the Davao Food and Wine Festival committee for choosing Dusit Davao as the venue for its biggest event of the line-up. Also in the event were DOT RD Tanya Rabat-Tan and DFWF Chair Carmina del Rosario.
